Sugar Land unveils name of new baseball stadium

When they take to the diamond in 2012 the Sugar Land Skeeters minor league baseball team will call StarTex Power Field home.

The team announced a 10-year partnership with StarTex Power Company and the name for its new baseball stadium Wednesday morning. The 7,500 seat stadium will be built near the old Imperial Sugar refinery near Highway 6.

In all, the stadium will cost around $40 million with most of the money coming from the city of Sugar Land.

Construction on the stadium is expected to begin in the spring to be ready for opening day in April 2012.
