Police need help identifying a woman who tried to cash a forged check at a West University bank.

The incident occurred December 9 at a bank in the 5500 block of Kirby, according to a Crime Stoppers statement. A teller who was helping the suspect was told by the check's payer, a business, that the check number had never been used and the check was forged.

The teller took the woman's driver's license, but it was later determined the information belonged to a deceased person. The woman then fled the scene.

Police have released a photo of the suspect in hopes that someone is able to identify her. Anyone with information regarding her name or whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
