Elementary school lockdown lifted after suspect's arrest

HOUSTON The school, part of HISD, was put on lockdown as a precaution while a police investigation took place across the street in an apartment complex at 5300 Coke.

Police say they arrived to the complex to serve warrants on a male resident named Anthony Brooks. He was inside his apartment with his girlfriend and her 2-year-old daughter. Authorities say Brooks said if they come in he'll kill the two of them. The suspect was inside without a weapon and eventually surrendered to police.

The lockdown was lifted about 30 minutes later, when police took the suspect into custody.
