Driver who struck and killed a father appears in court
HOUSTON
Brenda Johnson, 50, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter for the hit-and-run accident. Johnson appeared in probable cause court earlier Thursday morning.
The incident happened at a bus stop on West Little York and TC Jester in northwest Houston. Theodore Jones was with his 7-month-old son Seth when they were hit by a driver, who was out of control.
Some witnesses say Jones tried to shield his baby from the car. The child suffered a broken arm. He's described as being in stable condition.
Police say Johnson left the scene, then flipped her vehicle and was taken into custody. Police say Johnson was intoxicated, possibly on prescription drugs.
