Police say Arturo Aviles was driving a red 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck eastbound in the 8100 block of River Drive at a high rate of speed. Unaware of a curve in the road, Aviles drove into a ditch in front of a residence, struck a concrete driveway and lost control of the pickup. The vehicle then struck a tree, rolled over and landed upside down.
Aviles, 26, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Police chase ends in fatal accident
HOUSTON
It started at Gulf Freeway near Howard and ended on River near Ogden. Police say the truck involved was possibly linked to a disturbance at a bar. However, when an officer stopped the driver near Howard and walked up to the truck, the driver took off.
