Family accused of selling cocaine out of home

ROSENBERG, TX Their house sits along Airport Road in Rosenberg, across the street from George Jr. High School. Agents reportedly located approximately 2.5 ounces of cocaine, marijuana, and pharmaceuticals inside the home. The state statue defines this amount of cocaine being distributed in a Drug Free Zone to be classified as a first degree felony. This offense is punishable from 5 to 99 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force arrested the mother, her two sons and their wives, the mother's daughter and her boyfriend on 49 drug related charges in an early morning raid at the home on Saturday, October 2. Five additional suspects were arrested, bringing the total to nine in custody.

Officers accuse the family of manufacturing, packaging and distributing powder and crack cocaine.

Eight children ranging from four months old to nine years old were located inside the residence. Child Protective Services (CPS) was notified, arrived on scene, and took custody of the children pending investigation.

Listed below are the names and charges of those placed in the Fort Bend County Detention Facility:

  • Peggy Meza Cantu, 50, is charged with 15 felonies and one misdemeanor including manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, engaging in organized criminal activity, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, theft of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment. She is being held on $275,000 bond.
  • Mario Degollado, 46, is charged with four felonies and one misdemeanor including manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and theft of a firearm. He is being held on $25,000 bond.
  • Christopher Cantu, 21, is charged with 10 felonies including engaging in organized criminal activity, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and child endangerment. He is being held on a $145,000 bond.
  • Ashley Vasquez, 19, is charged with nine felonies including engaging in organized criminal activity, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment. She is being held on $45,000 bond.
  • Peggy Suzanne Cantu, 20, is charged with two felonies including engaging in organized criminal activity and the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. She is being held on $10,000 bond.
  • Joseph Gunter, 18, is charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor including unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession. He is being held on $11,000 bond.
  • Ruben Arrendondo, 43, is charged with one felony and one misdemeanor including possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $5,200 bond.
  • Janie Gonzalez, 24, is charged with seven felonies including engaging in organized criminal activity, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and child endangerment. She is being held on $35,000 bond.
  • John Aaron Cantu, 29, is charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.
