Free museum entrances, dance show, theater tickets

If you live in Katy, the Appleseed Express Carwash is celebrating their grand opening carnival style with a weekend of free fun and food. Until 7 pm Friday, there will be a petting zoo, ice cream and storytelling for the kids. On Saturday from noon until 5pm, there will be kid-friendly activities, including clowns, face painting and jugglers. The event wraps up Sunday with more free activates including a DJ from 1 to 5pm. The Appleseed Express Carwash is located at 6020 N. Fry Road.

Enjoy a free day in the Houston Museum District on Saturday, September 25 from 10am to 5pm. Enjoy one of 17 free museums including the Children's Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum Of Natural Science. If you want to museum hop, you can board a free shuttle bus at any one of the participating museums.

It's the 16th Annual Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance at the Miller Outdoor Theater. Friday and Saturday from 8pm until 10pm, enjoy tap dance and trapeze work in this evening of performances by 10 Texas-based choreographers and dance companies. Free tickets are available for the covered area while they last at 7pm Friday. For Saturday's performance, you can pick up tickets at the theater box office from 10:30am until 1pm. The box office will reopen at 7 to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, it's open seating on the hill.

A free night at the theater? Yes, completely free because of a nationwide program called "Free Night of Theater 2010." The goal is to reach people who don't normally go to the theatre. You can reserve your tickets online starting tomorrow at 10am at www.freenightoftheater.net.
