School finally opens after construction delays
HOUSTON
The K-8 school was supposed to open last week, but construction delays forced administrators to postpone the start of classes. Construction workers finally took care of electrical issues at the charter school on Tuesday.
Some of the school's 400-plus students didn't hear about the postponement because phone and email systems lost power. However, most parents got the message that school was beginning today, which made kids and parents happy.
"I'm happy it's finally open. He's been on too long a vacation. It's time to get him back in school," said Robert Malone, father of a 6th grader. "He's very excited. He was anticipating this morning, he was up before I was."
The school will make up the missed days by adding six days to the end of the school year.
