Firefighters in northwest Houston managed to stop a fire before it destroyed a house. Around 9:30pm Wednesday, fire crews were called to a home on West 26th at Bevis after someone spotted fire and smoke coming from the attic. A bedroom ceiling and the attic are damaged, but the flames were knocked down before they spread.

The homeowners were inside at the time, but they escaped safely.

Firefighters believe an electrical problem sparked the flames.
