Man arguing with store clerk killed by oncoming vehicle

HOUSTON It happened around 9:20pm Sunday outside a gas station in the 13300 block of Cullen. Police say witnesses tell them that a 41-year-old man caused a disturbance at the gas station and the station manager asked him to leave. As the man walked across the parking lot, witnesses stated he turned back and continued to yell at the manager.

As the man walked off the parking lot and into a southbound lane of Cullen, he was struck and killed by a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck. The driver of the truck immediately turned into the next parking lot entrance and stopped.

Police say further investigation determined the driver of the Chevrolet was intoxicated and he was arrested at the scene. Milton George Monroe, 66, is charged with intoxication manslaughter. He is free after posting bond.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
