SPCA saves dog found with steel traps
HOUSTON
The Houston SPCA is treating the dog, which is a boxer mix. On Thursday afternoon, Harris County Pct. 1 deputy constables found him with steel traps on one paw and his scrotum. The SPCA removed the traps and say he will make a full recovery.
"Many times an animal, to escape the pain, will actually chew his or her leg off trying to get away," said Stacy Fox with the Houston SPCA. "This dog was extremely lucky, and we're very, very thankful that the prognosis is great."
The SPCA and Precinct 1 deputies are both investigating the incident. They will present the case to the Harris County District Attorney's Office for possible charges.
