Multi-vehicle wreck shuts down South Loop

A major accident on Houston's south side shut down a portion of the South Loop. A multi-vehicle accident involving a big rig occurred on I-610 westbound just before Highway 288 shortly after 11am. As many as 10 vehicles were reportedly involved in the wreck.

All westbound mainlanes of the South Loop were shut down, causing a backup that stretched for more than two miles. The wreck was cleared at about 12:45pm.

There's no word on injuries at this time.
