Bode Miller earns bronze in men's downhill

WHISTLER, British Columbia He earned a bronze medal in the men's downhill to become the first American to win three Olympic medals in Alpine skiing. Miller captured a pair of silver medals in Salt Lake City eight years ago.

But he wasn't far away from gold in Vancouver. Miller finished nine-hundredths of a second back of Switzerland's Didier Defago who broke a two-decade Swiss drought by taking the downhill gold. Defending overall World Cup champion Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway got the silver, a slim 0.07 seconds behind.
