A fire in a shed in east Houston killed one horse and hurt one other. Firefighters got the call around 3:30am about the fire on a piece of land on Vernon near Bringhurst. Four horses were in the shed. Neighbors say the owner came everyday to feed them. Witnesses say as soon as they saw the flames they ran over to help.

"We didn't know that one was over there but the ones that were over there were burning so we just knocked the lock off and saved the horses and let them out," said neighbor Edgar Brentley.

There was no electricity running to the shed so investigators are not sure how the fire started.
