Houston is a little greener for this city's Arbor Day. Trees For Houston held its Arbor Day tree planting at Wiess Park on North Post Oak in west Houston. Hundreds of volunteers picked up a shovel and planted 500 native trees on Saturday.

The national Arbor Day is in April, but Houston celebrates it in January because this is usually the best time for tree planting in our climate.
