A man in Katy is going to bed tonight $144 million richer. He's the only winner of Friday night's Mega Millions jackpot. He hasn't stepped forward publicly yet, but Saturday the guys at the store that sold him the ticket were tickled green.

One of the customers at the Short Stop convenience store on East 5th Street in Katy has a habit that turned out to be very, very lucrative.

"He's a regular customer. He comes in the morning and he bought Mega Millions and Lotto and he bought yesterday morning one ticket and he's the lucky winner," said Zulfigar Momin, manager of the Short Stop.

The man is $144 million lucky as the sole winner of the Mega Millions jackpot. And he didn't even know it until he made his usual visit to the Short Stop store Saturday morning and the clerk told him.

"He came in this morning to get his coffee and I told him to check the numbers. He was all excited and all happy with all the number on there," a store clerk said.

The jackpot winner still managed to buy his usual cup of coffee and two more lottery tickets. Just in case. The store manager didn't mind. The store gets its own jackpot of sorts for selling a winning ticket.

"I'm excited for my store, too," said Momin.

In case you were wondering, the winning numbers were: 1, 10, 22, 23, 38. The Mega ball was 19.

The next drawing is February 2. The Mega Millions jackpot is already up to $12 million.
