Good news for Houston job market

HOUSTON On Monday, the Greater Houston Partnership released its jobs forecast for 2010. The experts say while Houston is still feeling the effects of the recession, the new year should also bring a rebound for a number of industries.

The forecast predicts businesses across the board will be hiring again by the middle of next year. They also say our economy is poised to recover as soon as demand picks up in industries Houston specializes in -- oil and gas, international trading, health care and manufacturing.

Houston's unemployment rate is 8.5 percent, just under the national unemployment rate of 9.5 percent.
