Crime Stoppers needs help to solve murder mystery

HOUSTON "I didn't think it would be him to be shot," said Laura Florez of her husband, Johnnie.

Through her tears, Laura Florez recounted Wednesday how Johnnie was shot and killed as he was pulling into his southeast Houston driveway last May 28. And 6 months later, there are still no leads.

"He's a son, a father, a husband, a friend," said Florez. "Any help anybody can provide would be helpful, would be appreciated."

Investigators say Florez was shot and killed by more than one person. The only clue they have to go on, though, was that an attempt was made on his life just weeks before he was murdered.

"Approximately two weeks before Mr. Florez was killed, he was the victim of a documented aggravated assault, in which a black or Hispanic male shot at him," said Deputy Jason Brown with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

With no motive and no leads, Florez hopes someone with information hears her plea.

"My kids ask for her father every day," she said. "My daughter asks if they've been caught and one day, with your help, I'd like the answer to be yes."

If yoiu have any information in this case, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
