The drivers then passed each other while heading down the freeway. The pickup driver eventually tried to pass the dump truck while in the emergency lane, only to lose control and run into the bigger truck.
The impact caused both trucks to flip on their sides and to block the outbound lanes of I-10 from 10:15pm until 12:30am. Neither driver was hurt.
