Gallery fire suspect allegedly threatened owner

HOUSTON A judge set bond at half a million dollars for Robert Gillham. He's charged with arson for the fire back in May. Prosecutors say Gillham used to be a salesman at Gallery and set the fire because he was angry with owner Jim McIngvale.

According to prosecutor Steve Baldassano, the state argued the judge should not lower Gillham's bond due to an allegation that while he was in Montgomery County Jail, he told a family member that he was going to kill Jim McIngvale. Other reasons were that he had an open felony case in Montgomery County, that there was $20 million of damage in the Harris County case and there was a previous injunction against Gillham related to Gallery Furniture.

Defense attorneys argued that Gillham's bond should be lowered due to his advanced age.

The store has already restored the building and is back open.
