Driver dies in crash near bayou

HOUSTON An eyewitness says he heard a 'boom' and when he looked over, he saw a car heading from Allen Parkway towards the bayou. The driver was going about 40 to 45 miles per hour. The car came to rest at the edge of the bayou.

The witness managed to flag down another driver and asked them to call 911.

Emergency crews were quickly on the scene and found a 56-year-old woman dead. Authorities say she was ejected from the vehicle and died on impact.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. An investigation is underway.
