It happened after 2am on the North Beltway ramp near the North Freeway. The eastbound N. Sam Houston feeder road was closed because of the debris spilled in the accident.
Authorities say they are trying to determine if the driver may have been going too fast on the ramp, possibly shifting the weight of the lumber supplies and causing it to overturn. They're are also looking into whether or not the truck's brakes may have jammed or failed.
The driver told authorities that he was taking the ramp and felt the load shift. He tried to slow down but it was too late and the 18-wheeler to flipped onto its side.
