Overturned rig closes East Freeway

Authorities have shut down all lanes on I-10 eastbound after a tanker truck accident caused a chemical spill overnight. The driver told authorities a wooden pallet fell off another truck and he struck it and lost control.

Police shut down the East Freeway at Monmouth. A HazMat team is on the scene, cleaning up the mess and checking the river below to make sure no fuel leaked into the water. The Coast Guard is there, as well, since the accident happened over the San Jacinto River.

Drivers will have to reroute their commute. You can always see a realtime map of traffic in the area.

No one was injured in the accident.
