Robinson, Ryans unhappy with contracts

Linebacker DeMeco Ryans and cornerback Dunta Robinson aren't happy with their contract status with the Texans and say they will not be reporting to the teams first day of the offseason conditioning program starting Monday.[SPORTS BLOG: Get the latest news from the Eyewitness Sports team]

These are two of the three best players on defense. Robinson turned down the team's long-term contract offer and was given the franchise tag which means he gets a one-year deal at the average salary of the top five players at his position. Robinson said GM Rick Smith told him he wouldn't be franchised.

Ryans is under contract and extension talks haven't been successful. Neither Ryans nor Robinson have made any threats to hold out during the season.

Texans' owner Bob McNair says he thinks the team has been fair.
