Vietnamese consulate gains support

The Greater Houston Partnership says it now supports the idea of establishing a Vietnamese consulate general in Houston.[SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

The decision is the result of a visit from Vietnam's prime minister last June. The visit brought out hundreds of protestors who are against any normalization of relations with the communist government.

On the other hand, some supporters say a consulate would offer faster visa approval, making overseas travel easier.
