The accident happened in the Inwood Forest area on Haynes. Investigators say an officer spotted a reported stolen Ford Taurus near West Montgomery and Little York around 2:30am and tried to pull the driver over, but the driver took off.
During the chase, two patrol cars collided at the intersection of Ellington and Haynes. One officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspect bailed out of the car and managed to get away. That led to an intense search involving several K-9 units, a police helicopter and multiple police units. The suspect remains on the loose.
The suspect has apparently had some run-ins with the law before because police say they know who he is and they know his grandmother and do plan to find him.
