School officials acted on that tip by bringing the male student into an office where his backpack was searched and a gun was found. It's unknown if the gun was loaded or not.
According to Kelli Durham with Cy-Fair ISD, there was no fight or other conflict that led to the student bringing the gun to school.
The student was taken into police custody and will face criminal charges. The student will be sent to alternative school.
