Based on a tip, a Worthing High School employee was arrested Thursday morning for possession of marijuana following a drug dog search of the employee parking lot. According to the Houston school district spokesperson, the employee has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation and will be re-assigned away from the school.
Court records show teacher Sean Thomas has been charged with possession in a drug free zone.
At the time of the search, a student walking by began acting very nervous. HISD Police discovered an unloaded gun in the 16-year-old ninth grade student's backpack. The student was arrested and will be processed for expulsion and reassignment to an alternative school.
Parents were alerted to the arrests via a recorded phone message from the school's principal.
