Machete-wielding suicide man forces closure of freeway

HOUSTON Officers received a call and went to the man's home and realized that he had taken off in his van.

The chase, which involved four law enforcement agencies, began in Pasadena and ended when the suspect stopped on Highway 290 at Huffmeister. The suspect held officers at bay for an hour and he freeway was shut down in both directions the entire time.

The man finally gave up and surrendered.
