Commuter train wreck kills at least 17

Los Angeles fire officials say at least 17 people have been killed in the collision of a Metrolink commuter train and a freight train in the San Fernando Valley. Los Angeles City Fire Capt. Steve Ruda says crews are working continuing to work on the recovery effort Saturday morning.

Officials say there were 222 people on the Metrolink train and four Union Pacific employees aboard the freight train.

About 250 fire department personnel and 200 police officers were on the scene before dawn Saturday.

As many as 135 people have been reported injured.
