Grindline, an internationally known firm that is dedicated to state-of-the-art skate park design and construction, was awarded the $285,439 contract in December 2007. Park funding ultimately included many cash and in-kind donations, in addition to the city's donation of land for the site and Community Development Block Grant money.
The skate park is located in Galveston's Menard Park at 2119 27th Street. It's open from 6am to 10pm daily. The park is free.
Skaters are warned they skate at their own risk. Riders are required to wear a helmet and pads. No bicycles or roller blades are allowed.
