Rice QB gets Unitas award consideration

BALTIMORE, MD The award, established in 1987, is presented annually to the nation's top senior collegiate quarterback, by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc.

Criteria for candidates include a quarterback's collegiate career, as well as his off-the-field values of good character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, and leadership qualities.

Clement heads into his senior season ranked in the top 10 among NCAA active career leaders in touchdown passes and total touchdowns (5th with 55 and 68, respectively), total plays (7th, 652) and passing attempts (8th, 897).

The 2008 winner will be presented with the award on Dec. 5 in Baltimore.
