HOUSTON --
An old park has a new name to honor the late Barbara Jordan.Wipprecht Park, just east of downtown Houston, was re-dedicated today as the Barbara Jordan family park. A ceremony and picnic lunch was hosted by Jordan's sister along with local religious and political leaders. Jordan was the first African-American from Texas elected to U.S. Congress.
