HOUSTON To apply for assistance through the Will-A-Thon, senior citizens must call 713-228-0735 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., by March 31, 2008, to complete a screening application over the phone. To qualify, applicants must be Harris County residents 60 years of age or older and have an annual income of no more than $20,800 for one person or $28,000 for a couple. Other factors, such as medical expenses, also are considered.
Those who qualify will be given an appointment to meet with a volunteer attorney on April 17, 2008 at the Third Ward Multi-Service Center, located at 3611 Ennis (77004). The documents will be completed on May 8 at the Third Ward Multi-Service Center.
The Houston Bar Association's Elder Law Committee provides free legal services and advice to senior citizens in Harris County.
