HISD worker charged with child porn

HOUSTON We're told Richard Hulbert taught some classes, but he's mainly the campus technology specialist at Westbriar Middle School. He's out on bond, charged with possessing child pornography -- clearly troubling since he's around children all day long.

As students at Westbriar Middle School are away making memories during spring break 2008, the school's network specialist has one he'd rather forget.

Hulbert, 56, a married man with two children, was arrested during his break. He's charged with having child pornography.

According to the Texas Attorney General's Office, several tipsters reported Hulbert was sharing sexually explicit photos of children online. They just clicked on the cyber tip line on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's website. The center then passed those tips on to Texas authorities and yesterday officers raided Hulbert's west Houston townhouse.

Today no one answered the door when we knocked. The garage door was open and Hulbert has already posted bond. We've learned authorities seized his home computer. The investigation is ongoing. So far no computers at Westbriar have been confiscated.

Hulbert's job places him around children daily. HISD's press secretary responded to the child porn allegations Hulbert now faces with only a short statement quote, "if true, he should be punished to the full extent of the law."

Hulbert faces two felony counts of having child pornography. As you saw, no one answered the door and he didn't return my call either. Hulbert is due in court Thursday morning.
