Aretha Franklin cancels Houston show

HOUSTON "A considerable amount of time, effort and expense have gone into securing and planning for Ms. Franklin's engagement," said a Symphony spokesman. "It would be an understatement to say we are disappointed, as I am sure are her many fans in Houston who were anticipating her appearance."

The more than 2,000 of her fans who have already purchased tickets are being individually contacted and offered either a refund, the opportunity to exchange their tickets for another Houston Symphony event, or the option of donating the value of the tickets and receiving a tax deduction receipt - with the funds being used to support the Symphony's education and outreach programs.

For further information, ticket holders can contact 713-224-7575.
