The children went inside the rescue the Chihuaha and the girl was severely bitten on her arm. The girl's father managed to grab the pit bull and dragged it outside. A neighbor saw the man struggling with the dog and helped tie it to a tree.
The girl was taken to Northwest Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Animal control officers took the dog into custody. It will be tested for rabies, and then it may be put down.
