Spearman also served as the US ambassador to two African countries -- the republic of Rwanda and kingdom of Lesotho. The 78 year old Spearman died of a stroke last week.
Former TSU president remembered in memorial service
HOUSTON (KTRK) The university held a memorial service Friday morning for Spearman, who served as Texas Southern University president from 1980-1986. During that time, Spearman led initiatives that helped get accreditation for the university's schools of law and pharmacy and MBA program.
