Deputy nearly run over during traffic stop

Officers say a Harris County deputy was nearly run over by a suspect during a traffic stop in west Houston. It happened near Highway 6 and Briar Forest. The officer was in front of the vehicle making the stop, when the driver took off and side-swiped the officer's vehicle. The officer was knocked onto his hood, but was not seriously hurt.

The suspect lost control at the next intersection and crashed into a ditch. The deputy tackled the suspect and made the arrest. It's still unclear why he was running in the first place.
