"He loved it. He really enjoyed it," said park visitor Tom Owen. "First time around, first time on a train."
Park visitor Anne Lewis said, "I think it will be nice. I think it's time for a new look. It's kind of dirty, but they love it, but I think it will be good to have a new one."
The new train will have wider carriages and be handicapped accessible. It will also be two miles longer, taking riders to the museum district and the Texas Medical Center.
The line is expected to reopen in March.
