Fire destroys warehouse used as gallery

HOUSTON The warehouse is on Keene near Harrington, just north of downtown Houston. The fire broke around 1am. Crews had to battle flames and thick smoke as they tried to put the fire out.

The building was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Investigators say the building had numerous fire code violations.

Local artists have been using the building as a studio for years. It's also a hot spot for raves and underground parties. But officials say no New Year's celebrations took place there last night.
