BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- Investigators are combing a landfill in Chambers County after a torso of a man was found.

According to the sheriff's office, the torso was found Tuesday evening at the Waste Management Baytown Landfill by an equipment operator.

The body part has been sent to the Jefferson County medical examiner's office.

SkyEye was over the landfill where several deputies and Texas Rangers were looking for any other clues as to what happened.

Chambers County detectives worked with the Texas Rangers and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice cadaver dogs to search the area for more remains.

Investigators determined the remains were likely thrown in a dumpster in Harris, Liberty or Chambers County sometime Tuesday before the contents were added to the landfill.

Preliminary results from the medical examiner's office show the remains belong to a male between the age of 13 and 50.

Detectives are reviewing missing person reports. If anyone has any information that could help investigators, they're asked to call the Chambers County Sheriff's Office at 409-267-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 844-860-8477.
