HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was a rising star in the NFL, but it quickly turned downhill after he was accused in a murder.

TIMELINE

1989 - Hernandez was born in Bristol, Connecticut

2007 - Hernandez plays for the Florida Gators

2008 - Wins championship with Gators

2010 - Drafted 15th in the fourth round by the New England Patriots

2013 - Charged in the murder of Odin Lloyd and released by Patriots

2015 - Sentenced to life in prison

2017 - Acquitted on April 14 for 2012 double murder. Commits suicide on April 19.
