Record-breaking 168 pets adopted during ABC13's 8th annual Pick Your Pet Adoption Drive

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- ABC13's 8th annual Pick Your Pet Adoption Drive with Gillman Subaru and BARC Animal Shelter was a huge success!

For the third year in a row, Eyewitness News viewers set a new record with an astonishing 168 pets adopted during the three-day event! In 2024, 153 animals found new homes, and in 2023, 111 pets were adopted.

On Friday alone, 99 pets were adopted, with 39 more on Saturday and 30 on Sunday.

ABC13's annual Pick Your Pet Adoption Drive offers $13 discounted adoptions for all available pets.

Visitors found a festival-like atmosphere during our 8th annual adoption drive, including food trucks, live music and a pet market, featuring vendors, treats and training classes.

There was a critical need to find forever homes for dozens of animals, as BARC's shelter has been overwhelmed with incoming dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.
