Oscars in Memoriam 2014: Which stars were left out of the segment?

It never fails that some stars are forgotten in the "In Memoriam" segment at the Academy Awards, but this year's segment was missing a few pretty big names.

Cory Monteith, Tom Clancy, Dennis Farina and James Avery were among those not memorialized during the show. Sarah Jones made it into the montage, but her on-screen mention was on screen as the show went to commercial, Zap2it reports.

More people who died were featured on the Oscars website, but the segment that made it onto television didn't include them all.

According to Zap2it, viewers didn't see the following people on air:

  • Jonathan Winters ("It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," "The Russians Are Coming the Russians Are Coming," "The Smurfs") -- Died April 11, 2013.
  • Gary David Goldberg ("Must Love Dogs," sitcoms from "Family Ties" to "Spin City") -- Died June 22, 2013.
  • Cory Monteith ("Glee," "Monte Carlo") -- Died July 13, 2013.
  • Dennis Farina ("Get Shorty," "Saving Private Ryan," "Snatch," "Midnight Run") -- Died July 22, 2013.
  • Lee Thompson Young ("Akeelah and the Bee," "Friday Night Lights," "Rizzoli & Isles") -- Died August 19, 2013.
  • Tom Clancy (Author of "The Hunt for Red October" and all other Jack Ryan stories) -- Died October 1, 2013.
  • Marcia Wallace ("The Simpsons," "Monsters University") -- Died October 25, 2013.
  • Nelson Mandela (Subject of 2013's "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" and 2009's "Invictus") -- Died December 5, 2013.
  • James Avery ("The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "The Blues Brothers" (first on-screen role) -- Died December 31, 2013.
  • Alicia Rhett ("Gone with the Wind") -- Died January 3, 2014.
  • Ruth Duccini ("The Wizard of Oz" (last surviving female Munchkin) -- Died January 16, 2014.
  • Russell Johnson ("This Island Earth," "It Came from Outer Space," "Gilligan's Island") -- Died January 16, 2014.
  • Jim Jacks (Producer of "The Mummy," "Dazed and Confused" ) -- Died Janurary 20, 2014.
  • Sarah Jones ("Midnight Rider") -- Died February 20, 2014.
  • Alice Herz-Sommer (Subject of Oscar-winning "The Lady in Number 6" documentary) -- Died February 23, 2014.
  • Alain Resnais (Director of "Hiroshima, mon amour") -- Died March 1, 2014.
