The accident happened East Martin Drive at 494 Loop and involved a bus taking kids home from the New Caney 6th Grade Campus.
According to DPS, the bus driver became distracted by unruly kids and turned around to confront them, but lost control off of the bus. The bus slid off into a deep ditch and rolled to its side.
Twenty-six students were on board the bus at the time, and five of them were injured. None of their injuries were serious, but they were transported to a hospital as a precautionary measure.
Another bus was brought out to take the remaining children home.
No other details were immediately available.
