Houston workers going to North Texas to assist those dealing with severe winter weather

HOUSTON

CenterPoint Energy crews and equipment left from Houston on Saturday, en route to the Dallas area to help restore lights to the more than 200,000 who lost power.

Ice covering the communities took out power lines.

Nearly 50 linemen and support personnel from Houston were part of the team that departed Saturday.

"They will be working probably five to seven days, 16-hour days, basically seeing ice on lines power lines down, that sort of thing," CenterPoint spokesperson Olivia Ross said.

Texas Department of Transportation crews in Houston also left on Saturday morning to travel to Dallas and Fort Worth. They will help clear the roadways affected by the severe winter weather storm.
