It happened near Preston and Red Bluff around 5:30pm Wednesday.
Two pickups were on a roadway in an area where the lanes suddenly go from three to two lanes, and one vehicle apparently cut off the other. One pickup truck had a pair of brothers inside of it, and the other was being driven by a 56-year-old man.
When the vehicles got to the light, one of two brothers jumped out of their pickup, went over to the other vehicle and smashed in the driver's side window. The 56-year-old driver called police, but when the vehicles came to a second stop, one of the brothers once again jumped out of the pickup, punched the 56-year-old man then reached in his vehicle and took the keys.
One of the brothers hopped into the bed of the pickup truck and drove off, but when the vehicle hit some kind of bump, and the brother in the back was thrown out of the bed and killed. His brother had already driven off by the time police arrived on scene.
The brother who died has been identified as 22-year-old Angel Ricardo Martinez. His older brother turned himself into police on Thursday, but it's still unclear whether any charges will be filed.
