Texans fans take over San Diego ahead of opener

SAN DIEGO, CA

There's so much to do in sunny San Diego. There's the stroll on the beach, sailing on the bay or maybe a waterfront lunch. But if you're a Texans fan, today is about none of those.

Hundreds of Texans fans made the trip from Houston to cheer the team against the Chargers. For Shelley Webb and her assistant, Leslie Skinner, this Monday night game means packing up and cashing in a few vacation days.

"Does your boss know where you are?" we asked Skinner.

"Yes he does. We let him know," she said.

"We emailed him," added Webb. "He knows where we are."

In the crowd of Texans fans, there are retirees, professionals, those in law enforcement and even a Harris County assistant DA.

"We used my vacation time for my anniversary to come support our Texans on Monday night," said Allison Baimbridge, who traveled to southern California for the game.

Some fans we talked to say traveling with the Texans comes with a sacrifice.

"We left the kids behind. They're with grandparents," said Skinner.

For them, it's worth it.

Some Texans fans say they're dodging our cameras because their bosses don't know they're in San Diego.

Coverage of the game starts at 9pm on ABC13!
