Mayor Parker announces Tour de Houston bike ride plans

HOUSTON

Mayor Annise Parker was joined by several bikers outside City Hall Thursday to announce plans for this year's bike ride. There's a 20, 45, and 70 mile route for bikers to choose from, all helping raise money for the city's Re-Plant Houston program.

The ride begins at City Hall, travels up Allen Parkway to River Oaks, over to Hobby Airport, on to Clear Lake then ends back at City Hall.

Registration is still open for the March 17 ride. The cost is $30 for adults and $20 for kids.

Some 5,000 bike riders are expected to participate in the tour though Houston this year.
